Anatomy of The Plant
This diagram shows the inside of the plant. In This diagram there are 3 levels to the plant, the top, the middle, the bottom. The top part of the plant describes mainly the parts of the leaf. It shows the layers which are the cuticle and epidermis. As we move down
As we move down to the mid section of the plant it begins to concentrate upon the stem of the plant. The diagram expands on a closer view on what the stem would look like and where its phloem is located. The phloem helps transport food throughout the plants. As for the epidermis, it is the dermal tissue of the plant.
The lower portion of the plant focus more underground where most of the action happens. Most roots are placed underground which helps them soak up the nutrients from the soil to promote healthy growth. Interesting fact about roots is that there are unique roots like the buttress roots instead of forming in the ground they form on some tall or shallowly rooted tree species to help support them. Also another plant that has a very unique root is the Mangrove tree its roots are located above ground which helps bring oxygen into the roots.
Plants Used For Medicine
its a known fact that plants have been used as a source of medicine for a very long time. The first form of medicine was from an active ingredient in willow called acetyl salicylic acid, which most people know as Aspirin. Over 120 prescription and non prescription drugs have been extracted from plants. Examples of a few would be Morphine which is used as a pain comes from a Poppy plant, and L-Dopa which is used to treat Parkinson's disease and comes from Cowage seeds.
